Teamfight Positioning by Role — Where You Should Be Standing in Every Fight

By HOKMeta · Published 2026-01-15 · Updated 2026-08-07

Tank: You Are the Wall

Your job is to be between the enemy team and your backline. You are a wall. Walls don't chase kills. Walls don't flank. Walls stand still and absorb pressure.

Positioning: in front of your ADC and mage, within dash range of the enemy frontline. Your goal is not to kill anyone — it's to make sure the enemy can't kill your carries.

When to engage: when the enemy carry mispositions. Not when you feel like it. Not when your team is pinging you. When you see a clear opening.

When to peel: always by default. Only switch to engage when you see the opening.

ADC: You Are the Turret

Your job is to do consistent damage to the closest target. You are a turret. Turrets don't move. Turrets don't chase. Turrets stand in one place and shoot whatever is in range.

Positioning: behind your tank, within auto-attack range of the enemy frontline. If you can auto-attack the enemy backline without putting yourself in danger, great. But your default target is the closest enemy — which is usually the tank.

When to move forward: when the enemy frontline is dead or CC'd and you can safely hit the backline.
When to move back: when the enemy assassin is missing from the minimap.

Assassin: You Are the Vulture

Your job is to kill the enemy backline after the fight has started. You are a vulture. Vultures don't start fights. Vultures wait for something to die, then swoop in.

Positioning: on the flank, out of vision. Never in front of your team. Never in the middle of your team. The enemy should not know where you are.

When to engage: after the enemy has used their CC and burst abilities. Count to three after the fight starts. Then go in.

Target priority: enemy ADC > enemy mage > enemy jungler. Never the tank. Never the support.

Stats from Camp HOK international ranked (synced 2026-08-07), cross-checked against HoKStats.gg builds and counters. 国服 (王者荣耀) runs on a faster patch cycle with a larger hero pool and different ban culture — use CN guides for mechanics and combos, but draft off global win/pick/ban numbers on this site.
